2010 Arizona BJJ State Championship

The GD JIU-JITSU Events in association with the Arizona State Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (AZSBJJF) is proud to announce the 2010 Arizona BJJ State Championship. The competition will take place on June 26th and 27th at the Westwood High School located at 945 W. 8th St. in Mesa, AZ 85201.

Gracie Mag will be covering the event.

The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition will offer kids, juveniles, Adult (Male and Female), Masters and Senior Divisions. We have just added Masters & Senior Divisions for the Purple, Brown, and Black Belts.

IMPORTANT: Registration will be closed for the Kids division after 220 competitors. Registration for Juveniles, Adults, Masters, seniors, and Women will be closed after 430 competitors. Sign up now! The 5th AZ International Open was sold out.

GD Jiu-Jitsu Events will be offering FREE tournament T-Shirts to ALL competitors who Pre-Register for the tournament by the PRE-REGISTRATION DEADLINE on June 18th @ 11:59 PM. Competitors registered AFTER this time will NOT receive a T-Shirt.

Each competitor must fill out the registration form online. The Pre-registration fee is $50 for the adults and juveniles (16-17 yrs) or and $40 for the kids division until June 18th. After this date, $60 for adults and juveniles and, $50 for the kids.

All registrations must be received by Wednesday, June 23rd by 11:59 pm. No registrations after this date. Registration fees are non-refundable. No exceptions.

The brackets will be released before the tournament. On Friday, June 25th, the brackets will be available online at our website.

Adults Division – The tournament is single elimination. Medals will be awarded to the 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place of each division. Athletes will not compete for the third place. Two bronze medals will be given.

Kids Division – Every competitor will receive a 3 1/2″ medal, and a Diploma. This is a single elimination tournament, but if the child loses in the semi-final, they will compete again. Top 4 are guaranteed in the podium.

* The top FIVE Kids schools will receive awards;

* The winners of the Juvenile and Adult Female Division have a chance to win a Flip Video Recorder;

Samuel Puccio BJJ Seminar

Samuel Puccio, a BJJ revolution team member, and Rodrigo Medeiros blackbelt will be visiting us on May 29th for a seminar.

The cost for the seminar will be $50.00 until May 18. After May 18 the price goes up to $60 until the 25th. After the 25th the price will be $70. At the door on May 29th the price will be $80.00.

Phoenix Open BJJ Championship

The competition will take place on May 22nd at 8:30 am at
Kajukenbo Arizona, 2602 West Baseline #1 Mesa, AZ 85202.

Registration fee is $35. Deadline for registration is May 19th at 10:00pm. NO EXCEPTIONS

The brackets will be released day of the tournament by hosting team.

Medals will be awarded to the 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place only.

Divisions

White Belt 5 Minutes
Blue Belt 6 Minutes

Rules and Regulations

Kajukenbo Arizona will not tolerate any unsportsmanlike-like conduct. Any disrespectful behavior will result in immediate disqualification and removal from the premises of the athlete, with no refund of the registration fee.
The weigh in system is the same used by IBJJF. The competitor will weigh in before his first match. If you don’t make weight, you will be immediately disqualified. Please make sure that you are in the correct weight category. You cannot change divisions, if you do not make your designed division. No changes will be accepted on the day of the tournament, and no refunds will be made. We offer an extra scale for people to check their weights before.

No Stalling: Referee will issue one negative point for the 1st offense of stalling (i.e. backing out of the guard without engaging, no activity, and running out of the ring to avoid takedown or submission attempts). A 2nd offense will result in a 2 Points deduction. A 3rd offense will result in a disqualification.

Wrestling shoes or any type of shoes, head gear, shirts under the gi (except for girls) and any kind of protectors (Including cup!) that can alter the outcome of the match in any way are not allowed in competition.

Hygiene: All competitors will be checked for communicable disease, not limited to but including flu, cold, ring-worm, staph and herpes.

Throws, takedowns, knee on the belly and sweeps – 2 points
Passing the guard – 3 points
Mount/taking the back – 4 points

No Heart No Victory No Gi Grappling Tournament

Time and Location:

No Heart No Victory No Gi will be held at Deer Valley High School main gym, on Saturday, Feb 27 2010.The competition will begin at 9 AM sharp, starting off with competitor weigh-ins. All registrants must be weighed in prior to their first match or they will not be permitted to compete in the tournament. Deer Valley High School main gym is located at 18424 N 51st Ave, Glendale, AZ 85308. If you need directions to reach the event location, you will be provided a customized MapQuest link in your confirmation email which will direct you to the event location.

No Heart No Victory No Gi will feature 3 events: A No Gi Tournament (Open to Adults only – 18+), a No Gi and Open Weight Tournament (Open to Adults only – 18+), and a Takedown Tournament (Open to Juveniles only – 12 to 17). The Open Weight tournament is optional to any competitor who signs up for the No Gi tournament. A competitor must compete in No Gi in order to compete in the Open Weight.

No Heart No Victory No Gi will feature only Brown and Black Belt Referees!

No Heart No Victory No Gi is hosted by Mike Martin, Black Belt under Joe Moreira. In order to register for the No Heart No Victory No Gi Tournament, you must agree to the rules and regulations set forth by the tournament organizer. By registering, you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree to all rules and regulations set forth, and that the tournament organizer shall not be held responsible for penalties or disqualification resulting from a failure to read and/or understand any rule or regulation that has been set forth.
