Pendergrass Gi Classic Grappling Tournament

Supporting leukemia research, the 2010 George Pendergrass Gi Classic grappling tournament will take place on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the MVP Sports Center. Registration is now open!

We will be offering gi divisions for men, women, 30+ men, and juveniles.

This is a single elimination Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (gi) tournament. The first 25 pre-registered/paid competitors will receive an event t-shirt!

Saturday weigh ins will be held from 8:30 AM to 10 AM for anyone competing in adult divisions. Juveniles must weigh in by 9:30 AM. Competitors can also weigh in Friday night from 6-8 PM at the Pendergrass Academy.

Juvenile divisions will use the Madison Bracketing System. There will no longer be preset weight classes for juveniles. Using the Madison system means children and teens will be less likely to cut weight since they won’t know the weight classes in advance.

NAGA North Carolina Grappling Championship

On Saturday, May 8, 2010, the world’s largest grappling tournament circuit returns to Charlotte for its annual NAGA North Carolina Grappling Championship. This tournament is open to all grappling styles, you do not need to be on a team or be a member of any organization to compete. This event is nationally RANKED!

SAMURAI SWORDS TO CHILDREN & TEEN WINNERS
NAGA will be awarding custom engraved SAMURAI SWORDS to all non-expert Kids & Teens 1st place winners! Octagon medals will be awarded to all non-expert Adult divisions winners. Adult competitors who place 1st and win gold medals will have the opportunity to obtain samurai swords at the NAGA Merchandise Booth for a nominal fee.

6 SPECTACULAR CHAMPIONSHIP CUP TEAM AWARDS
All children/teens that do not place (1st through 3rd) will receive a medal just for having the courage to compete! All 6 of our top teams (Adult Gi, No-Gi, and Children 17 yrs. & under) will receive a huge Championship Cup for their team.

NEW ADULT ABSOLUTE NO-GI DIVISIONS
Many NAGA No-gi competitors have asked us to allow them to compete in multiple skill levels in order to get more opportunities to roll the day of the competition. In order to facilitate their request we have added Novice, Beginner and Intermediate Absolute No-Gi Divisions. These No-Gi Divisions will begin once all the regular No-Gi divisions have ended so no-gi grapplers will not miss their second chance to compete. 1st through 3rd place winners take home octagon medals.

CHAMPIONSHIP BELT
The winner of our Advanced Absolute No-Gi Division will take home a NAGA Championship Belt; this is an open weight class division for advanced competitors only. The winners of the Novice, Beginner & Intermediate Absolute Divisions will take home octagon medals.

FREE OPEN MAT WITH NAGA REFEREES
Here is your chance to roll with NAGA Referees and NAGA Staff members. Our staff will be happy to share techniques with you, help you get a good sweat in or to just have some fun. Our referees are experienced competitors, come learn from them and help improve your game. Open Mat will take place on Friday night from 6:30 to 7:30 PM at the venue.

WEIGH-IN ON FRIDAY OR SATURDAY
NAGA will be offering all competitors the option of registering and weighing-in the night BEFORE the tournament from 5 PM to 8 PM. The weigh-in will take place at the venue. If you cannot make it on Friday, all competitors can register/weigh-in all day on Saturday beginning at 8 AM. You can weigh-in up till your divisions begins. You do not have to weigh-in with your gi on.

US Grappling presents NC BJJ Championships

US Grappling returns to North Carolina on 3/27/2010 for the NC State Championships. The tournament will be held at NetSports, in Morrisville, NC.

This event will have single elimination divisions for men, women, 30+ men, and juveniles (ages 4-17).

Saturday weigh ins will be held from 8:30 AM to 10 AM for anyone competing in no gi divisions, and will be extended to noon for anyone that will only be competing in the gi. Competitors can also register and weigh in Friday night (more info coming). Competitors do not need to wear the gi during weigh ins.

First matches will begin at 11 AM.

The Good Fight Awards:
Custom Medals will be awarded to all 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place Winners! Any child or teenager that does not place 1st, 2nd or 3rd place will receive a participation medal. Below you will see what color medal each place winner will receive.

Gold Medal – 1st Place
Silver Medal – 2nd Place
Bronze Medal – 3rd Place

Each Medal awarded at The Good Fight tournaments will be custom made and have specific artwork commemorating each tournament. Even the ribbons will be cutomized with The Good Fight logo.

Absolute Divisions:

PLEASE NOTE: Absolute Divisions will take place throughout the tournament.

You do NOT have to wait until the end of the tourney to do the Absolute division you signed up for.

For example: If you signed up for the Absolute White Belt division; all the White Belt weight classes will grapple to completion; after all White Belt divisions are complete the White Belt Absolute will begin.

You will be able to Pre-Register for your respective absolute division when you go through the registration process. ALL Absolute Divisions will follow a single elimination format only with no consolation match.

The Good Fight Tournament Schedule:

8 – 9 am: On-Site Registration and Weigh-Ins for all Kids & Teens.
10 am: Start of Kids and Teens tournament. Gi divisions go first; then No-Gi.
11 – 12 noon: On-Site Registration and Weigh-Ins for Adult Gi.
1 pm: Start of Adult Gi matches followed by Gi Absolute divisions.
1 – 2 pm: On-Site Registration and Weigh-Ins for Adult No-Gi.
3 pm: Start of Adult No-Gi matches followed No-Gi Absolute divisions.

All competitors have the option of weighing-in on Friday or Saturday. You can weigh-in on Friday; the night before the tournament from 5 -8 pm, or Saturday prior to the start of your division or within the cut-off times described below.

US Grappling will host our first Submission Only tournament in North Carolina on Saturday, February 20th, 2010 at Barber Park in Greensboro, NC. This venue is very convenient to I-85 and I-40.
